Roland Lamon obtained his Diplôme National des Beaux-Arts from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Bordeaux, in 1974. He started his career as an assistant to Pierre Castex, Head Decorator at the Bordeaux Opera House, and took part in creating many opera decors in Paris, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Dusseldorf, Barcelona, etc. He has been working independently since 1980, his numerous travels adding to his professional experience. He has painted decors for famous operas such as Puccini’s Tosca (in 1989), Romeo and Juliet at Bordeaux (in 2000), and many more. He is also the author of numerous fresques in museums and exhibitions in the South of France, and has taken part in many exhibitions with his own works of art. He has also taught a great amount of workshops on theatrical decorations, and has trained teams of professionals.
His career reveals refined work and elaborate research in the art and harmony of colours. Developing his own teaching methods to teach painting decors also feeds his passion for transferring his knowledge and art. He founded, and is the director of L’Académie du Décor Peint Ronald Lamon, a professional training centre located in the South of France, specialized in teaching Italian style décor.
